DO NOT I repeat DO NOT SNEEZE after a TT !

I sneezed last night in bed. I went to bed late last night and was lying in bed around midnight and I sneezed. OMGosh I about died. I did not have time enough to react quickly and reach up to put any support on my  neck and it was a full blown (no pun there) sneeze which flopped my head and neck and seriously felt like the inside of my neck imploded or something! MAJOR BAD PAIN! I finally, after a good 1/2 hr of continued pain, got up and took a couple of pain meds - and still suffered all night. I woke up this a.m. and still was hurting so I took one more pill and now I am so groggy. Hubby got up with the kids thank goodness and I slept in a bit. I am trying to get up and going but I cannot tell you how awful that was.
On a happy note. Today is our wedding anniversary, 17 yrs of wedded bliss and total utter crazies.

I still am coughing... they say it is from the anesthesia/tube but man it is annoying!  I just sort of used a towel and now my hand to "support" my neck when I cough hard. BUT don't SNEEZE whatever you do! I am telling you.....it was the worst!   I still have  a lump in there too, I totally "get" the speedbump thing now!

i've had a cough since my surgery and the nurse really freaked me out !! she said i have no stitches so i have to be carefull to not pull the incision apart when i cough !! so i have been trying really hard to cough gently!? had a weird lump in my throat for a day or 2 and i went to the emergency about it last nite . no problem , dr said its from the surgery and to not worry ?!! wait to see the surgeon he said . its not interferring with breathing but it still is very much there .

That made me think....I remember my first sneeze after surgery, but it wasn't for a while!  The only reason I remember it is because my breathing still wasn't up to snuff, and you know how you take in that quick breath before you let it out?  Mine was that raspy "snore" sound, and it startled me!!!

Darla ~ I hope that the pain is getting better from that!  Sounds VERY painful!  I'm sure it was quite the shock to that swollen throat of yours.  Oh, and congratulations on 17 years!!  That's wonderful - and sad to say, quite rare these days!

Oh no hon, I didn't think you were implying funnies at all...  I actually found it funny that popped into your head! LOL  I really hope it is nothing too but am sort of worried. All night tonight it has been bothering me still... ick!  Just took 2 pain pills and am headed to bed (it is 11pm here) and hope to get some good sleep.

BTW, I did not mean to imply that it was funny that you hurt yourself sneezing. Just that I did the same thing and all I could think of was "I've got to warn Darla". I truly hope that it's just sore and that you did not set back your recovery.

Oh I know one of you had posted previously how painful it was and you were not kidding! I am still hurting - honestly think I did something bad in there. Swollen and tight and sore. If it is still not better by Mon I am calling the Dr because I kid you not, I really think I did something bad. ugh.

Just got in a good nap and dh and our bf's are taking me out for our anniversary dinner.

I am 2 weeks post op and it still hurts a little, I did EVERYTHING possible NOT to sneeze until a couple days ago...I would snort and do whatever to make it go away....LOL....poor thing I hate it for ya but I know because like I said it still hurts me a little.

Oh my gosh. This is too funny. I sneezed about an hour ago and I was going to address a post to you so that I could warn you about it. Too late I guess. It really does hurt no matter what you do to try to minimize the damage. The best bet is to try not to sneeze.
