I believe I had a bad case of food poisoning after eating a Del Taco burrito with sour cream. My sister and I went to lunch together and both ate one She was sick in one city and I in another. We shared our stories after seeing each other after a few days. It could not have been a coincidence but food poisoning.
Any others out there had food poisoning? There is a reason I ask!
As a child, McDonald's once - hit me hard with a 1/4 pounder w/ cheese.
I've eaten things that disagreed with me...but I rarely get sick....knock wood...(don't want to jinx myself) The only time food really messed with me was when I was prenant...then I couldn't eat anything fried...
I had it 4 years ago with seafood.....they say I am now allergic to seafood (sob !)
And then 2 weeks ago with chicken warm salad from a take away place.
My God! If you could just vision me sitting on the kitchen floor with a bucket between my legs with projectile vomiting!
NOT A PRETTY SIGHT! lol
The worst part was I never lost any weight lol.
I've had it several times as an adult (just lucky, I guess!). However, I have read that there is actually no such thing as the "24 hour stomach flu" or "24 hour grippe" or whatever you call it. Instead, it's almost always food poisoning that makes you feel like you're going to die for 24 hours just about to the minute.
I used to have a delicate tummy, but age seems to be curing that (there are benefits!!!).
I have a strong stomach and I can only remembered one case of food poisoning in a Mexican restaurant in LA that kept me up part of the night.
But my husband has a very week stomach and has had many episodes, the worst one was Summer 06 when he had awful stomach pains for 3 whole weeks. Doctors never found what was going on exactly. I also remember an evening one winter, the roads were frozen but I had to drive him at midnight to the ER due to food poisoning in a Chinese restaurant.
Been lucky so far, but my son just went thru somethng awful last month and they aren't 100% sure if it was parasitic, food or whatever but he's fine after 3 awful weeks and some pretty hefty meds along the way.
If I had it as a child, I don't remember. I've always had a sensitive stomach, but two adult incidents stand out in my mind.
A year ago, a friend brought potato salad to my barbeque, but she didn't tell us she'd left it in her car while she was running errands. Temp outside was above 90. Hubby and I were sick for over a week. Hubby has a stomach of iron, too.
Five years ago after eating oysters at a Chinese restaurant. Never again!!!
I have had it both as a child and an adult. Hated it!
