My DX is: Follicular derived neoplasm suspicious for papillary thyroid carcinoma arising in a background of chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis
I just had my biopsy 10 days ago for two larger nodules among others in both sides of the thyroid. Apparently everything was benign, but I, too, feel that with the manipulation of the thyroid by the Endocrinologist days before the biopsy and then with the FNA itself I am aware of lumps and tightness in my throat I have never noticed before. Is it just a new awareness or have these procedures triggered growth and/or swelling?
If nodule has blood vessel in it or vessels around it [for later picture the basket ball in the basket], the needle can often cut the vessel so the blood can leak into the capsule of the nodule [if it cyst] or can saturate it like sponge [if nodule is solid]. Sometimes even careless 'strong' palpation can cause the blood vessel to rupture, or it can rupture at its own.
In rare condition, the infection can be introduced inside also, but I don't think it is the case.
The visibility of nodule is also related to tensioned /relaxed neck muscles and skin[including the under skin layers
What was your DX on the biopsies? Do you have thyroiditis at all ? I felt my nodule for a few weeks with straining type muscle pain and then it went way. 3 mos later it was the same size when removed upon surgery.
Others will jump in on the thread, I'm sure ....... WELCOME!
