Does this look like edema?

Hi there I currently suffer from hypothyroidism and currently take levothyroxine. (75mcg)

I recently posted a question regarding a swollen ankle and although it has since gone down I have started to get more pronounced swelling (from what I can see) around my cheekbone/under eye area. I've included a photo of it.

At first I put it down to me rubbing my eyes too much thus creating pressure/drag around the area but it's still quite bad and when I feel the area it feels quite fluid-like and boggy.

I've tried covering it up with foundation, primer and powder and anti-ageing creams, moisturisers, collagen gel and exfolliators to try and sort it out as a skin condition but nothing seems to work. I thought seeing as it's a symptom of thyroid disease I would post my question and include a photo for some advice. It was taken on my iPod Touch.

Thanks x

Ok, I've uploaded a few pictures which may show up some sort of puffiness. They were taken in January 2013 - whether or not the hypo was in full swing at that time I'm not sure. Boyfriend has always said I've got puffy cheeks anyway but they're not shiny. If there still doesn't look to be any puffiness visible I'll try to get pictures from somewhere else.

Thanks

Hi Barb, thanks for your reply.

I will try to take a better picture or find ones that have a better view of the puffiness. I only took it close up as it's not very apparent from a longer distance away.

I just uploaded a photo of myself taken in 2007, about a year prior to my hypo/Hashi dx....... notice how puffy/shiny my cheeks were, at the time.  My cheeks were very swollen and while my glasses kind of covered them up, I had big bags directly under my eyes.

To get to the photo just click on my profile picture and it will take you to my profile page, then click on photos.  It's the one labeled 2007 pre-hypo diagnosis.

The photo is too close up to tell anything, because we can't see tell what your eye area looks like, in relation to the rest of your face.

I did address this in your other thread.
