Thyroglobulin

I have a 3 cm nodule in my right lobe ... my TSH is <0.03; my T3 and T4 are elevated (I'm hyperthyroid).  My thyroglobulin came back at 226 .... my antibodies are normal.  I had a FNA this morning.  What does the elevated thyroglobin mean????

If the nodule didn't absorb the iodine (or was it the *entire* thyroid??) then the nodule would be considered "cold" and is highly suspicious.

Have you talked to a surgeon yet?

My thyroid did not 'uptake' the radio isotope that I swallowed and was injected with .... I'm waiting to hear the results of the FNA.
I would love a diagnosis of 'thyroiditis,' but that doesn't account for the 3 cm nodule!!!

(During the FNA I had pain in my right ear .... has anyone else experienced that, too???)

Elevated Tg doesn't really mean anything (cancer wise) if you still have a thyroid.  It *can* indicate hyperthyroidism or thyroiditis (but typically isn't used as a test for these conditions).

Tg is used as a cancer marker *after* the thyroid is removed to watch for recurrences.

When will you have the results on your nodule?  Have they done a nuclear scan to see if the nodule is "hot" (overproducing thyroid hormones) or not?
