Does anybody know?

For about 2 and a half years now, I have been experiencing cysts like things in my kneck. They appear and disappear on their own in a neverending constant cycle It hurts to swallow sometimes and the cyst things  swell and press in on my gums and teeth causing my gums to be tender. I often become hoarse. Has anyone heard of this being related to anything about the thyroid?

I did not want the dr that was wanting to do it b/c i did not know him and in the small town there are not that many good dr.s  so I went to Birmingham to get his opinion  and he told me there was no need, b/c nothing showed up in my blood work and that it was more than likely as yoiu said my lymph nodes fighting off infection.  But here it is now i am still having the same problem, so i guess i shouyld have let him do it anyway.  And if I am going to find out , eventually I am gonna have to let somebody insert the needle and get a sample.
I had cancer and i went through alot and i don't go to the dr alot. and when they say they want to cut or insert needles i'm gone.

Yes, you can have an infection in  the body without any fever. You'd be surprised to learn we actually get up to 67 infections a year without even noticing it. But our lymph glands may pop up a little to fight it off. That's what their job is to help us not get sicker.
Why did you not want a needle to get a sample? This would have been quite quick and given the doctor a better idea as to what was going on.
I think the best thing to do is speak to the doctor you are seeing and tell him/her of your  concerns and I am sure since you had a previous illness they will look in to it for you.
Good luck.

Since I have had no fever could it still be an infection?

I was diagnosed with Aml Leaukemia when I was 14, I am now almost 26.
I am going back to the DR this Wednesday, about the swelling.
Nothing has showed up in a routine cbc. and one dr wanted to cut the cyst out of my neck to test it, and i would not let him, then  he said something about inserting a needle to get a sample, i would not let him. but this was 2 years ago. Still having problem and had enough so I called my cancer dr and I have an apt with him This Wednesday. He also wants to do an EKG and a Dexascan. and Blood work. back in january i went to a local dr. and he did an ekg and said it is mitral valve prolapse and my thyroid was up a tiny bit. but this is all they said. I recieved no medications. But my apt this wednesday is with my old dr, for when i had aml leaukemia. So I  am just waitng. I cannot find anything on the internet about my symptoms and was curious to know if it has anything to do with the thyroid?  I have no fevers  and i don't think i have a weight gain issue, i just can't lose the weight. The weight is in my abdomen area and thighs, but i assume this is due to the fact that I have had children.

Sounds like your lymph glands are swelling up in your neck, which could be due to infection in the body. Or, it could be a thyroglossal duct cyst. It is a remnant of the pathway the thyroid travels when we are just embryos. You would really need to see a doctor to see if it is that. It could well be you have gum disease and that is causing the lymph nodes to swell in a routine pattern.
