Test results abnormal

I am 35 yr old female, 5'3", 127lb, doing yoga 3x/week, trying to eat healthy, don't smoke, don't drink. I am taking birth controll  Aviane (Alesse), been on the pill for about 12 years.
My recent blood test showed high cholesterol (240 total, 154 LDL, 193 triglycerides, 5.1 HDLC) AND my TSH, 3rd generation w/reflex to FT4 was 21.51(!) (T4 free 0.9). My doctor prescribed Levothyroxine 0.1mg to start. My question is: is it possible to have TSH this high, should I get re-tested or should I start the treatment right away? Is it possible that the pill has affected my thyroid? I don't have any serious hypothyroid symptoms (SOMETIMES I feel a little tired, have dry skin, but that's all).
Thanks

Yes. Symptom relief (for those having them) is important but it's treating the damage being hypothyroid does that we don't notice, like raising cholesterol levels, that is actually much more important.
My Aunt had a heart attack at 30 and the autopsy showed undiagnosed thyroid trouble.
Take your meds.  May even find your yoga and eating habits more rewarded as well.

Considering others have had TSH as high as 500, yours of 21 is not comparably high.

Start your treatment! Then go back to doctors and get retested to see if you are at the right dose.

A lot of people don't have symptoms and others just a few.

Its not a thyroid law we have to have symptoms - isn't that a great thought.

Good luck
