He let you get a little too hypo for someone being monitored.

When I had RAI to kill my thyroid, my Endo wrote me a standing order for a TSH test and a Free T4 test, and told me to get a blood draw any time I wanted to. Every week if I felt it was wise.

You're not in any danger, but you will start to feel bad, and that could have been avoided. I don't have much room to talk, because I think I am hypo now, and I can get my blood checked any time I want to. My wife has been telling me since Friday I should go get it done.

Levothyroxine is generic hypothyroid medication, or T4 meds. Generics are ok, and they are easy on the pocketbook, but generic thyroid medicine is a bad idea. It is better to take  a name brand like Synthroid. There are several name brand T4 drugs, like Synthroid or Levoxyl. All of these name brand T4 meds have levothyroxine as the active ingredient, but the quality control is better.

Generic meds are not very consistant on the amount of active ingredient in them, and thyroid regulation is difficult enough without playing "guess how much is in this pill" with your thyroid meds.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the answer, but what about this Levothyroxine? is that a bad med? i am scared... I had tests done before this one where a got those results, they were still high before , that's why he did not gave me anything yet so far. Are my results too low?

Don't let him start you on generic Levothyroxine. Use a brand name, Levoxyl or Synthroid.

He waited long enough to test you. Too long. Make sure you get retested six weeks after starting the drugs. And again six weeks later.
