Had RAI, 2 weeks later body aches

I'm wondering if anyone has had these symptoms. I had 100.7mCi of RAI on Jan14th and then started back on Synthroid 100mcg 2 days later. I had my thryroid removed in Aug 07 and had started Cytomel after the surgery for a short time. There is only 1 hospital in my area that does the RAI treament so I had to wait till it was available. The endo I go to is a complete jerk and put me on Synthroid for 2 months changing the dose twice because my TSH level was never normal. I went to him in the beginning of Dec and was in some much pain with body aches. The aches are mostly in my legs and I can not sleep or rest without being uncomfortable. He gave me no insight on my situation and I ended up going to my family doctor who put me out on medical leave from work until my radiation was complete. I did go back on Cytomel for a short time until having to go into hypohell before my RAI.That did help me while on the Cytomel. I am starting to feel just as bad as I in Dec. Has anyone ever had any problems with taking Synthroid with these symptoms? I go back to the oncologist to get my report from my body scan on Monday and go to my family doctor on Friday to be released to return to work. I am so scared because this is what put me out of work in the first place. I hope someone can give me their personal insight. Thank you.

yeah man or woman cannot live on t3 alone. Mostly it is t4 you need cause that gets converted to t3 by your body.
give the med some time .I know it took about 6 months to get leveled out with my tsh. It just takes time for your body to heal.

Thank you for your comments. I have blood work done every 3 weeks, because I felt so bad after my surgery and the doc was still tweaking my synthriod. The only normal TSH level was when taking Cytomel, but I was told by the radiation officer that you can not stay on that alone? Does anyone know anything about that?

I have exactly the same problem since my RAI (100mCi) in '06.  After the RAI I developed arthritis and severe muscle and joint pain.  I had my followup scan last November (4mCi) and have *really* been having bone pain since then.

Ask your doctor for a bone density scan.  Between the RAI and the high doses of thyroid replacement I have developed osteopenia.  Have that checked.

Hang in there!
