Generic Levoxyl

I was just curious about taking generic Levoxyl. I have been reading that taking the generic may not keep your levels accurate since none of the generics have the same potency. I have been having weird symptoms that i believe are related to taking the generic form of Levoxyl. Like heart racing, dizziness, shortness of breath, itching, irritability. Has any one else had any issues with this?

i so agree with goolarra.  i did have an issue when i first went from synthroid to levo but now its ok and its free with my hmo.  it took six weeks to get stable though. but i am fine now.  what is your ft3 and ft4?  if they are too low will cause symptoms.

Please post your FT3, FT4 and TSH results with reference ranges. Your symptoms could be related to your FT3 and FT4 levels more than to generic vs. brand name.

My endo also thinks that brand name drugs are more consistent.  I go along with him since it's a small point to concede.  I've been on generic, Synthroid and Levoxyl at one time or another, and, quite frankly, I see no difference whatsoever.  Different brands have different fillers, and sometimes these cause problems.

Is there really a major diference between the brands and generic, or has Big Pharma just conducted a really successful smear campaign to discredit their competitors.  I don't know...My personal opinion is to pick one and stay on it as consistency is probably more important than anything.

I would stick with name brand only....even my Dr recommends this.
