Getting help from a rheumatologist?

I went back to my primary care doctor to request a few tests and ended up with a referral to a rheumatologist because he doens't know enough about my autoimmune condition to help me.  And my endocrinologist hasnt tested me for the tings I wanted surprisingly even though I've learned it goies without saying to test TH-1 and TH-2 after a diagnosis of Hashimoto's.

My question is this: has an yone had luck getting their WHOLE autoimmune condition treated by seeing a rheumatologist?  Is this going to be a waste of my time?  Hashimoto's requires more treatment than just a dumb little hormone pill.  That won't stop my autoimmune attacks, and I know there are many of you out there that understand what I mean!!

I'm so frustrated I could cry.  I just want to get back to normal and there's always a road block in my way. I am determined, and I am slowly inching closer to getting my way....but it's the dr.'s that are holding me back from getting better!

Just make sure the doctors are willing to treat your symptoms by testing and adjusting levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, free T3 and free T4, with whatever type medication is necessary to relieve those symptoms, rather than treating you by your TSH level.  If they don't agree with that approach, they are not what you are looking for.

I got it thank you so much! I'm going to call there as well as a few other Dr.'s in the area because I do need a new Dr.

I sent a PM with recommendation.  I think with your medical history I'd defer going to Rheumatologist until after seeing a good thyroid doctor.
