I just received a phone call from my endocrinologist. My cortisol test (1mg Dexamethasone) came back low, so I'm breathing a sigh of relief! I was worried because I had such insomnia on top of my insomnia that day that it would come back high ie: pit/adrenal problem, or a ACTH tumor. Now I'm wondering if it was just my thyroid causing the sleep problems The first 2 hrs after waking I'm fine, then I feel like I need to drink a whole pot of coffee..and do most the time to help..but when it comes to taking a nap or going to bed at night I'm up..wide awake. I stop drinking coffee 5+ hrs before bed..JIC. I have also "experimented" with myself to see if not drinking any caffeine would effect the sleeping, and it doesn't.
My 3 hr glucose test came back good,too..so I'm not diabetic..which is ~really~ good. He also said that I will be gradually increasing the synthroid, and doing blood work for the next 6mths until I level out or until I level out..which is great. :D
This is great news, and I ~so~ needed it since surgery is a week away.
