I don't have any experience with a TT, but one thing that seems to be working really well for me is EA Sports Active 2.0 for the Wii. I'm halfway through the 1st 9 week challenge on the easy level, and I've lost about 13 pounds. It's been worth the cost of the Wii console and game. I hope everything goes well for you.
Thanks for your response. I am having a TT because I have too many nodules and they are growing slowly - and becoming bothersome. The biopsy shows inconclusive - so I am afraid of getting cancer. My doctor today advised me I may want to wait and have another ultrasound follow up if I am unsure what to do. I have heard the HCG is a gimmick - but I have had so much sicces. You loose weight rapidly if you stick with it - and for some people it is so difficult to loose the weight when you get older. I think fresh fruit & veggies will always be a part of my life - but a boost is nice too! Since HCG worked so well for me - I lost about 25 lbs and kept it off, I was happy to hear I can possibly still go on it after a TT. Although you are right, in the long run, it's all about healthy diet and exercise. Thanks for your reply,
I still find this myth of gaining weight after a TT a hard one to murder!
It is a MYTH not a foresaid that you will gain weight after the TT. It is only if you are not dosed correctly, and become hypo. This is unlikely to happen. It does but rarely.
Eating healthy in the first place and doing some light to moderate exersise daily is going to help anyone. No need to starve yourself or pay heaps for a gym. Weight loss can happen but it takes time!
Why are you having a TT anyway? Hypo, nodules?
The HCG diet is one of the current 'gimmick' diets aimed at the people who like natural and want to lose weight. Seriously, keep your money and spend it on fresh vegies and fruits instead!
Thanks for your avice, I will check out any information that will help me maintain a healthy weight after a TT. I am trying to explore my options on weight loss and I find it really helpful to know what to expect after the TT. Thanks very much!
I haven't had a TT, but I do have Hashimoto's/hypothyroidism, which causes considerable issues with my weight. I, personally, think the HCG diet is too drastic and not healthy, plus some studies have shown that the HCG really does nothing to help you lose weight; it's the drastic reduction in calories (starvation) that does it. One of the biggest issues with diets of this kind is that people rarely keep the weight off once they go off the diet. Most gain back all, or more than, they lost.
I am currently in the process of reading the book "The Flex Diet", which is written by Dr James Beckerman, who is a practicing cardiologist, as well as the expert cardiologist, here on MedHelp. This is really not like a "diet book", because it's not about eliminating entire food groups (except those we should eliminate anyway, like refined/processed foods); it's about making small healthy changes that can fit easily into your lifestyle -- common sense.
Another thing is that once your thyroid levels are balanced and at at good level for you, you should be able to lose weight by implementing a healthy diet and moderate exercise program.
Yes, I am finally losing some weight -- I've dropped about 4 pounds over the past week and 1/2 - now to keep them off.......
