HELP! Hypo and Hashimoto

HELP!! I am 31 years old and I have been Diagnosed last month with hypo and hashimoto after a year of neck pain and headaches. My neck pain is normally at night and it hurts so bad I just don't know what to do but cry. I feel so much pressure in my eyes, jaw, ears, and neck. feels like i have 2 ear infections, with a stiff neck and a golf ball in my throat. i am trying to be very patient and wait for the meds to kick in. i have been taking 50mcg for over 3 weeks and feel like my symptoms are getting worse. My TSH levels came back at 23 and my T3 and T4 came back a little below normal. However my ultrasounds showed Hashimottos and a goiter. my doc said he was concered because of the swelling.  i am worried because my sister had thyroid cancer last year and her thyroid removed. I go see the endo doctor tomorrow. what questions should i ask her?
At this point I want it removed. I can’t not stand these swelling episodes. please give me your opinon. my family is very supportive but honestly i feel so alone.

As I mentioned previously, there are reports that sometimes adequate treatment with thyroid meds and also some selenium (within daily recommended amounts) will help reduce the inflammation and swelling.

Since you have had an ultrasound, that is a good starting point.  Now you need to periodically update, to determine if nodules are there and growing.  So even if you should develop thyca, it is slow growing and you could monitor and take action to get an FNA to evaluate, for any further action needed.  I don't know as much as I would like about this aspect of thyroid, so I recommend a good discussion with doctor.

I happened to notice this thread on the same subject.  I think you can get some good info from it.

Also, please post your thyroid related test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report so that members can assess the adequacy of your testing and treatment.  If you have been tested for Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin, please post those also, with ranges.
