Hashimoto

I finally was seen by an Endo and was told that I have thyroid anti-bodies but do not know what that means.  And why does  Synthroid not seem to be working.  I have taken Synthroid since April 07 and have seen very little improvement.  My energy is still very low, I want to sleep all the time, weight continues to increase, and hair is still falling out.   My mental state has improved and concentration level seems to be returning but physically I am drained.

I think you have to listen to your own body and not let them pigeonhole you.  They always try to do that to us and it is not fair.

If you do have something wrong with your heart I don't know as you would feel good anyway.  But you would know if thyroid symptoms had gone away, huh?

Have they checked you for Raynaud's Phenomenon?  It is another autoimmune disease.  Have read a little bit about it.  This is the explanation given for it.  Raynaud's phenomenon: A condition where the body extremities sweat and turn blue and cold. Exposure to cold, emotional stress and smoking may trigger the condition. Also known as acrocyanosis.

Just a thought.  When I saw it in researching some other AI diseases I thought of you.

Hope they give you some answers soon and you feel better.

Thank you for asking.  No, my feet are no better and he said it was not related to thyroid.  He somewhat left it in the air.   As for my heart, I am waiting for my primary physician to make an appointment with a cardiologist. I have found through self research that it could be myocardiopathy (often caused by hypothyroidism)  which means my heart may have enlarged due to the length of time (15 months) to diagnoise my problem.

April 2007 my TSH level was 35.37.  Since being placed on synthroid it was been between 4.5 and 2.9 ---  which according to my doctor --  it is stable.   I have a hard time believing that it is stable for my body.   I still do not feel good.  What do you think?

So glad to see you back on here!  Have been really worried about you since last posting.

Did you find out anything about your feet being blue?  Have they done any checking on your heart?

you did not reference your labs...were you put on synthroid because of symptoms or because your TSH was high? anyway...you will need blood work every 4-6 weeks to monitor the TSH until it gets to an acceptable level....it sometimes takes months...you may need an adjustment in your medication....but you said there is some improvement with the mental state and concentration levels...so it could be that it is taking your body awhile to "renew" itself...as far as anitbodies go...you probaby have an autoimmune thyroid disease, Hashimoto's or Graves
