Hashimotos and Menstrual Cycles

Does anyone with Hashimotos feel very fatigued and almost like their thyroid is swollen and just moreso overall yucky than normal during their menstrual cycles?  Does anyone think birth control interferes with this or actually makes it better than what it could be if they were not on birth control at all.

I take levothyroxine 112mcg for the past year. I was on 125 mfg and was lowered and have been within range for some time. My levels when diagnosed were awful. My antibodies were in the 7000's. So they checked me for cancer. After having my second child 3 months later I was hyper then crashed to hypocrisy and diagnosed to hashimotos. My son is 2 now. My t3 and t4 were way out of range like my one was in the 300's and I think they should not have been greater than 25 or something crazy. Anyhow I feel good for the most part but notice during cycle time I get very anxious and tired with tummy issues and until it is over then I go back to normal. I am taking ortho evra but have to change as my insurance doesn't cover it anymore. So I am wondering not taking anything or Mirena. I just thought maybe without Bc I wouldn't be so impacted on my thyroid. And so will b vitamins help my energy. I am a on the go person but since hashimoto I am just not the same. Thanks for your input

Birth control can interact with thyroid because they are both endocrine...... all hormones have to work in sync.

Please post current thyroid labs, so we can better assess your situation. Be sure to include reference ranges, since these vary lab to lab and must come from your own report.

Are you currently on a thyroid medication?  If so, what med(s) at what dosage(s), for how long?
