Hashitmoto's and Swollen Lymph Nodes

Hello everyone,
I have had swollen lymph nodes in my neck for 4 weeks. I went for an ultrasound of the neck and the radiologist said in his report that my thyroid is suggestive of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. There were no focal nodules on the thyroid but lots of nodes in the area of symptomology. I have now been referred to a specialist but I still don't even have an appointment (Canadian health care can take time). Could Hashimoto's thyroiditis cause the swollen lymph nodes or should I be worried about something else (like lymphoma). I can't find anything online that suggests Hashimoto's could cause swollen lymph nodes. I really want to have a biopsy done but my doctor personally called the doctor that does biopsies last week and I don't even have an appointment yet. I don't have any signs of lymphoma and my CBC blood work was normal. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks for your message Laura! I have high TPO antibodies so my doctor is almost certain that I do have Hashimoto's. I was able to see an Endocrinologist and he said he's about 80% sure I don't have cancer but he wanted to order a core biopsy just to be sure. I am having it done tomorrow at 9:30am. Please send positive thoughts and prayers my way! I'm glad I am not the only one who gets swollen lymph nodes with Hashi's! Thanks again!

There are many weird things that happen with Hashimoto's. My lymph nodes swell too but only on the right side of my neck and armpit...they do this a lot. Just the bodies way to say "heh, what is going on here!" lol    I know it is hard, but try to not worry until after you have testing done. I would keep calling and calling until they fit you in quick. It may very well be that you have Hashimoto's.  :)
