Yes, I am taking levothyroxin and have been taking it for 7 months.
No, it is not too late. What dose were you taking? I ask because you might want to start on a 25-50 mcg dose and increase gradually, to avoid the possibility of a reaction to starting the med again.
You should also get tested for the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4 (not the same as Total T3 and T4), along with TSH, each time you go in for testing. Free T3 is the most important because it largely regulates metabolism and many other body functions. Scientific studies have also shown that Free T3 correlated best with hypo symptoms, while Free T4 and TSH did not correlate at all.
Since hypo patients often are deficient in other areas as well, I suggest that it would be a good idea to test for Vitamin A, D, B12, and ferritin. Also, please note that just being in the low end of the ranges is frequently inadequate. If you will get those tests done and post results and reference ranges shown on the lab report, members will be glad to help interpret and advise further.
