Heartburn sufferers

I just wanted to put this out there....if you have constant heartburn after your thyroidectomy, or even if you still have your thyroid, please get it checked out.  I finally went in and had an endoscopy because of the heartburn following my thyroid surgery last December.  It wasn't cronic or horrible, but it was coming and going and I thought I should have it checked. Well, today I found out that I have suspicious pre-cancerous cells at the bottom of my esophogus and into my stomach. I will be on Prilosec for the rest of my life to ensure that I'm doing what I can to make sure these cells don't mutate. My doctor assures me that everything is fine right now but it's good that I came in and didn't ignore it or chew TUMS on a regular basis.  Please don't ignore symptoms if you have them. Chronic heartburn is not normal and if left untreated it can be a very bad thing.

thank you for the post, I have had my thyroid removed last year due to cancer, now I will force the issue with the drs instead of just being told that " it happens".

Thank you for sharing this. I don't have constant "heartburn" but I have been having tightness in my chest for a while. I go for an endoscopy tomorrow.

I wish you the best of luck and thanks again for sharing!
