I had shoulder decompression done on my shoulder for frozen shoulder after also finding that the tendons were damaged and snapped and had to be repaired.
I suffered with mine for years only to wake up one morning not being able to even lift my arm off my chest without using the other hand to lift it off.
The first operation was unsuccessful (due to a dodgy surgeon) but the 2nd operation gave me nback all the strength in the arm again that I had lost over the years and even though I thought I would have problems in the winter (with the bone being shaved)...I dont.
The 1st op was in Feb 2002 and the 2nd op in Feb 2003.
No problems since then but I followed the physio to the rule to make sure I had use of the arm once again.
It is a debilitating condition but can be fixed by an Orthopedic Surgeon.
I feel like I'm over-reacting to your comments, but you should be evaluated by a Dr. Just to see if this could be adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder). You can Google a lot of info. What they don't tell you is - it will go away eventually, 2 yrs or so, but 50% are permanently crippled!
Before diagnosis, I kept telling myself that mine would go away. After 4 months I could not reach the top of my head, the steering wheel, or the toilet paper. I went to physical therapy for 2 1/2 months, torturous and expensive. I've got my arm back except for the last 8 degrees. The rest is permanent but I can live with that.
Best wine is Brown Brothers - Cienna lol (hehehe).
I am not a red winr drinker or a drinker for that matter but last few weeks with stress of work, Ive sat down at night with a glass of this wine.
Its a good wine and not heavy on the stomach lol.
Not sure about the restless leg, but I wouldn't be surprised!
As far as I know I am not hypo, but these symptoms occurred a few years ago and I was just wondering b/c they never found a cause! It was the most painful thing to not have a reason for it...so weird.
thanks
I take Ibuprophin every day too along with allergy pills sometimes. Sometimes Hashi's makes the swine flu no look so bad. So many symptoms! Trying to lose weight too..I am with you on that for sure!
Thank you for sharing. I learn more and more about the symptoms I have and realize they are probably all related! For me, wine is usually the cure...lol!
That is very interesting to hear. Sometimes I am not sure if it's from holding the kids, etc. or something else. I will pay close attention. I have noticed that I cant's reach far back like I used to be able to and it has lasted for a while now, so it might not be a pulled muscle. Who knows!
thanks so much!
My orthodpedic Dr. explained to me about frozen shoulder. The same anti-bodies that attack your thyroid can attack your joints. Diabetes can also cause a frozen shoulder.
So be very mindful of any loss of your range of motion! Like it hurts to put on a coat or reach your back pocket.
Mine started with a burning ache in my tricep area and progressed rapidly.
As it turned out, mine was not Hashi's, but hyper. All of my autoimmine tests were negative.
i'm not sure if restless leg syndrome is related to hypothyroidism, but that is one very annoying issue that i have. my legs, especially my left, drive me crazy. when i'm really bad, i notice it in my arms as well.
I had horrendous hives and itches and a burning pain many years ago on the outside of my upper arms. Reading your post reminded me of it! I hadn't even remembered till now!
I was very hypo then but undiagnosed...(tried to tel the doctors but they wouldn't listen) I was sure it was from the glass of Port I liked to drink at night, so stopped drinking it, but of course, 3 months later still had it. It was only when I went into my hyper stage of what I know now was my Hashimoto's Disease, did it all go away.
I know you have Hashimoto's too...so I really think that is what it is from.
I have aches and pains but not serious and i put it down to menopause i take my thyroxine everyday plus ibuprofen and i also take one allergy tablet before bed.
I have never had a proper conversation about my thyroid conditition since being diagnosed.
I don,t find GP,s particularly helpful it seems they are all too busy dealing with other patients, i would prefer to be treated as an individual but that is not going to happen so i just get on with it.
I watch what i eat but i am still over weight i would love to have the same energy i had 10 years ago when i was 40.
I have not caught swine flu yet ( lives in hope )!!!
My first sign of hypo is a pain up the left leg with a burning sensation under the foot.
I have had this so many times, had an ultrasound down and ct scan and it still continues on and off.
Strangely enough I got it real bad when I had the flu and I went for labs and my tsh came back at over 6.0 !
So yes it can be from the thyroid.....
Do you think you may be hypo?
aches and pains are definitely symptoms of hypo, but usually the pains are symmetrical. i get pains in my knees and quads and sometimes elbows and upper arms.
i doubt that your arm pain is thyroid related since it's one-sided. could you have injured it?
i forget sometimes that i've been holding my kids a lot or moving heavy items. the strenuous stuff can definitely cause aches. maybe you have a pinched nerve or something?
