Thyroid lumpectomy recovery experiences?

I am having thyroid lumpectomy surgery two weeks from today, having my left lobe removed due to a growing non-cancerous (so far anyway) goiter. I'm not currently on  thyroid meds of any kind, just began to experience discomfort from the goiter's size and am having it removed. I have not had it tested for cancer since November 2014 but I'm currently asymptomatic. I would have originally had this surgery in December 2015 but had to move it twice which is why I didn't have the goiter biopsied last Fall. I'm starting to get nervous about recovery (and everything really!!) as far as pain, how I'll feel, etc. Would love to hear anyone's experiences good, bad and ugly. Thanks!

In most cases it is HIGHLY recommended to do biopsy before the surgery; the benign cysts can be treated with minimal invasion procedure as well!
