Help..results, actions, confusing

My GP diagnosed me Hashi and on last test HYPOparathyroid, with severe osteoporosis. Sent me to Endo...sent for ultrasound which states:

Right lobe 6.11 x 1.5 x 2.0ccm Left 4.8 x 1.4 x 1.7 cm. The gland appears diffusely enlarged with some inhomogeneous echogenicity throughout both lobes. Right lobe larger than than left. There is a small 1.2 x 0.7 x 1.0 cm hypoechoic lesion in left lobe of thyroid gland. This does have some vascularity in it and the etiology is to be determined. Both inflammatory as well as neoplastic processes would be a consideration.

Impression:
1. A 1.2 cm hypoecoic nodule in the left lobe of the thyroid gland, etiology of which is to be determined.

2. Enlargement of boht lobes of the thyroid gland worse on the right than the left with diffuse heterogeneous echotexture as described above.

I left office with a prescription for Levothyroxine 25mg and vitamin D 50,000 units every 2 weeks. I am to see her in 2 weeks. Does this sound right?

You guys are all so smart.....and my mind just keeps on leaving me.

You may need to get the nodule biopsed.

Looks like your gland is enlarged which is what Hashi's does to it (makes it large and spongy) but the nodule on the left with increased vascularization needs to be watched closely.

Definition of Neoplasm
Neoplasm: A tumor. An abnormal growth of tissue. The word neoplasm is not synonymous with cancer. A neoplasm may be benign or malignant.
The word neoplasm literally means a new growth, from the Greek neo-, new + plasma, that which is formed, or a growth = a new growth.

Well, the hypoparathyroid explains the osteoperosis.  Wonder how long this has been going on?

Sorry, I don't understand all the stuff about the gland sizes and the explanations.  Someone will be along by tomorrow to help you out on that if not tonight, I'm sure.

Will be checking back to see what they told you.  Hope it's nothing too bad.  =^)
