Heterogeneous Nodules with Calcifications

Three years ago, I was diagnosed with a multinodular goiter.  I had a 1.2 cm dominant nodule and underwent FNA biopsy which was benign.  I did not have follow-up ultrsound after that until a month ago.  This time, it again notes that I have many nodules on both sides, but the largest two are approx. 7mm and heterogeneous with calcifications.  These are on the same side as my previous thyroid FNA.

Does this sound worrisome for malignancy?    Can a previous FNA cause the nodules to have calcifications?   Anyone have similar and what was your dx?

No, the FNA procedure cannot cause calcifications.
The coarse or eggshell calcification can be commonly found in benign multinodular goiters, but microcalcifications should be carefully investigated for cancer.
You may want to ask what type of calcifications do you have and to repeat biopsy if necessary

Thank you....It is good to know that the FNA is not to blame for the calcifications.  My report does not indicate the type of calcifications.  I will ask my doctor about this.
