High TSH

I just got my TSH results back:  8.75.  T3 & T4 are normal.
I went to my dr with problems of memory, recall, cognative functions, speech, fatigue, depression.  Many tests are still out but I was wondering what an elevated TSH might mean.  Is this thyroid problems or something else?

Hi, it's weird but last fall I had tsh=4.2, T3 and T4 were ok.
I was feeling fatigued, had some memory blanks etc.
Now I'm feeling a little worst and-lo behold- my tsh is at 5.7, T3 and T4 still ok.
My doc last had told me that sometimes its just as we get old the thyroid gets slower...

Hi, I believe elevated tsh levels are an indicator of hypothyroidism.  I suffer from it and my t4 levels are now normal but tsh is still off and am on medical treatment for it (without much success thus far).  Hope this helps some.
