Never mind my previous request; I see you posted results in another thread.
What are your current levels of FT3 and FT4? Please post, along with reference ranges.
were both the same im losing weight too..
I second everything gimel said!!
While some people do lose weight being hypo, it's not seen real often. If you are losing weight, you might be over medicated, but just going by TSH is not going to tell you; you need the Free T3 and Free T4 levels.
Do you have any other symptoms that would relate to thyroid? As Totie mentioned, some people do lose weight while being hypo, but that seems to be the exception. I think it is a mistake to diagnose and treat a thyroid patient based on TSH alone. TSH is a pituitary hormone that is affected by so many variables that it is inadequate as the sole diagnostic. At best TSH is an indicator, to be considered along with more important indicators such as symptoms, and also levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4. I heartily suggest that you should get tested for FT3 and FT4 and use those results, along with symptoms, to determine your dosage, instead of TSH.
Hi
I have got it tested 3 times...and my TSH levels are 25.834. Reference value is 0.35 - 5.50. It got diagnosed 7 months ago and since then i am on prescription of Thyroxine sodium 100mcg. My TSH levels are in control now but then again i am constantly losing weight.
On what basis are you saying that you are hypothyroid? Is it based on symptoms? Or is it based on thyroid test results? If it is test results, could we please have a look at the test results and their reference ranges?
Everyone reacts different to being hypo & hyper. Some lose on hypo, while others gain while hyper. I think it just depends on the person.
I am clinically hypo (TT), however, I am underweight; have been for about 3yrs. My thyroid levels are all okay so that is not the issue according to doctor. I use to be at a normal healthy weight, I was never overweight when i had my thyroid removed (16yrs ago). I do eat healthy however or somewhat healthy.
