Hives

Have taken methimazole for 2 yrs, six weeks ago I was put on metoprolol and now have hives. Taking plavix and just scratching gives me bruises. Which med is most likely the culprit to hives.

I'm sure the bruising is because I am on Plavix, I am just unsure why I would have started having hives again with the most recent changes in meds being metoprolol and plavix.

Have you talked about this with yoru doctor or pharmacist?  Have you considered the hives not being drug related and reviewed any recent soaps/lotions/etc changes?  An underlying autoimmune illness is a cause of some cases of urticaria.  For me, I've always been hive-y and break out from no apparent allergan.  Stress is the biggest trigger for me whether its good stress (like excited for family holiday get togethers) or worrisome stress such as getting my blood pressure taken (I have white coat syndrome).  I've recently been dx'd with Hashi and I do feel like it is the likely responsible party for my hives.  I hope you get relief!!!

I have been recently diagnosed with both Grave's and Hashimoto's (was on 30 mg of methimazole during my hyper phase).  However, I am currently euthyroid and not taking any medication and I get hives every other week.  I was told that the hives are just another symptom of the Graves and Hashi, as I am in autoimmune overload.  I also bruise easily due to the diseases.  I am curious if your hives and bruising is due to the meds or just thyroid disease.
