How are you after TT?

OK folks, I could use a little encouragement.  I'm 9 months post RAI for a toxic nodule.  I thought I was doing pretty well on Levo until 2 weeks ago.  I had vertigo!  Pretty scary if you've never had it before.  I must have looked like one of those fainting goats.  Every time I sat up, I fell over backwards.  It only lasted a day, but I've been dizzy ever since.  My ears are ringing and popping, my neck hurts on the left (nodule side), and I have a dull headache that tylenol won't touch.

Went for blood work to see if it the thyroid.
TSH - 0.52 (0.45-4.5)
Free T4 - 1.6 (0.93-1.71)
Free T3 - 2.7 (2.0-4.4)

Went to the Dr. yesterday.  My symptoms look like allergies, except there is no tissue inflamation.  My eardrum is bulging. My right (good side) thyroid is enlarged more than the left (nodule side) I explained to the Dr. that these symptoms are just like one year ago when I had the big toxic nodule. So is my suppressed thyroid waking up or is my nodule growing back?  He sent me downstairs for an ultrasound.  He doesn't want to do an RAIU and scan.  He said there is no reason to put me through hypo hell.  Wow, I think he's been through this himself!

So now I'm waiting to hear the radiologist report on the ultrasound.  The Dr. suggested referring me to a surgeon to take the darn thing out.  Of course, he too needs to see the US report.

I am probably facing a TT.

So how are you doing after a TT?  Does life get back to normal with Levo?

I got the phone call yesterday.  US showed I have NORMAL thyroid tissue.  No cysts, no nodules, and nothing that would indicate a tumor!  Just some atrophic (shrunken & dead) tissue where my nodule used to be.
So I guess I can't blame this one on the thyroid.   Time for me to get over it.
Accupuncture has worked for ear congention before.  So I'll try it again.

Thanks for listening!

I'm so sorry that you are going through this, but I applaud your humor...not many people know that fainting goats exist!  I hope that your ultrasound finds the cause of your vertigo and it gets solved quickly.

Mellowscout...good luck.

I can't say much about medications after TT because I just had mine out 5 weeks ago, but just wanted to let you know I am thinking about you.

My daughter struggles with vertigo (nothing to do with thyroid) and I know it is very scary for her.  She feels better if she keeps her diet low salt.

I hope you find a solution soon.

Thanks Totie.  I'm just sick and tired of being sick and tired.

I had the RAI, then the TT.

15yrs later, I am doing well. Take my medication faithfully at the same time everyday. My PCP handles all the lab work (yearly) and dosage.

You do have to have patience because it will take a bit to figure out the dosage. It took me up to a year, AND even 10yrs later went through the dose adjustment again.

But all in all, I am NORMAL. No thyroid issues at my end..
