How do I deal with having no energy?

I have been dealing with adrenal issues for atleast 6months- cortisol being too high all day. About a month ago I was diagnosed with sub clinical hypothyroidism. I began taking synthetic thyroid to no avail. The weight gain and extreme fatique continued. Then just last week I went seeking another opinion and it turns out my ferritin was very low.. 20? So, this doc decided my thyroid was really not the problem and even it were no amount of meds would help due to my low ferritin? Is this true? Could low ferritin really be the cause of all my fatigue, weight gain, and potentially other symptoms related to hypothyroidism? It all seems so complicated. I have attempted to shed some pounds.. over the last month and no matter what I do I can't get rid of them?

Low ferrtiin definately "mocks" hypothyroidism symptoms. You should be extremely happy your doctor even went above and did this testing for you.

This is NOT common practice for many.

You definately need to repair those adrenals.

I suggest research a very qualified doctors review on adrenal fatigue. His name is Dr James Wilson and he has written many articles on these type of conditions and you do have the ability to fix them

I suggest a google search on him - and especially the evaluation questionaire he offers on uncovering the problems you are having.

Hats off to your primary doctor!! - You may not realize how many people suffer this syndrome and no one will even look "once" at it as a possibility.

I believe if you have low ferritin levels it can cause you to feel more symptomatic with your thyroid. Fatigue, trembling and shakes, etc. Mine is only a 38 on recent test, but I know it should be at least a 70 for women. I go to the healthfood store and get an all natural food sourc of iron. Easy to digest and non toxic. I think it is called Floridix? It is in a glass bottle and liquid.
Try not to od on caffeine like the rest of us....lol.....lol

Well, my ferritin is coming in around 28 or so. As far as my adrenals go.. I took my ASI test in Jan of this year and don't have the numbers in front of me.. they are included in my chart at the docs office. What I do know if they were running normally (ie lower at night and higher in the morning) but in general I simply had too much coritsol. I probably should take another ASI test because mornings have become very diffcult for me as of late.

Also, does anyone know if having low ferritin prevents thyroid meds effectiveness?

low levels of ferritin will make you feel really tired and can also cause hair loss dry skin if your tired you may not feel like moving resulting in the weight gain  im not sure but i dont think on its own it causes weight gain if you post your results it may be helpful for others to look at i would feep checking your adrenals

Bump.

I'm hoping you could post some of your labs?  Those would help.  I don't know a whole lot about ferritin or how that relates.  I'm hoping another member can help.
