Thyroid Level

I have developed a Postpartum Thyroiditis. My CBC shows 5.47 thyroid, Low Rbs, Low Heamatocrit and Low Hb. My PCP says this is normal in postpartum peroid. Is it true? I have Hypothyroid symptoms like Dizziness, Wt Gain, Joint pain in wrist and Ankle, Irritability, pressure in the neck etc. Should this be treated? what other tests should be done to confirm Hypothyroidism?

Please let me know ASAP, So I can change my PCP if needed.

Thanks a lot.

Thanks, I had my baby 3 months ago. No she dint suggest any iron, just said that she would wait for another 4 weeks before ordering a CBC again.

Is the doctor at least recommending an iron supplement for the anemia? That isn't normal- even postpartum you should have enough red blood cells and hemoglobin!!

How long ago was your baby born?

The TSH needs to be watched closely and if it doesn't normalize, needs treatment.

Have you had thyroid antibodies tested?

Maybe consult an endocrinologist.
