Surgery next week

I went to see the surgeon today and Iam scheduled for surgery next Wednesday. I am having the right side of myt hyroid removed due to a softball size cold nodule. I have two small cold nodules on the left side which I will have a sub total thyroidectomy on that side. Also both of my lymph nodes are to be removed. Not sure if it is cancer, there will be a pathoogist in th OR toexam each piece removed. Any advisefrom anyone?

2 weeks out from virtually the same thing (just no lymphs out).
Best advice- make sure your family is set up to care for you as you may not feel up to it.
Foods that aid post surgical particaularly wound healing: pineapple, 1/2 banana daily, cantalope, protien foods, plenty of water to flush out meds, green leafy veg.
At first, I found swallowing not great- so things like yogurt were great to have on hand.
Others haven't had pain/swelling of their neck area- but I did- and a soft ice pack wrapped in a teatowel was my short term best friend.

Hope things go well, keep us updated.

What is a sub total ?  I had 1/2 out and frozen section during surgery (took 20mins to send up to pathology and get report) was benign and so was final pathology but they found two other small areas elsewhere in the gland that were papillary.  I kind of think I'd prefer to get a TT but not sure what a subtotal is b4 I can give my opinion (which of course is non-medical .. just a BTDT thyroid person like you)!
