Hypo or Hyper

I have been exhausted and cannot lose weight to save my life even when exercising 6 days a week.
I was treated with prednisone 3 years ago and gained 50 lbs. I have been trying since then.
my TSH is 5.65 (0.045-4.500) T4 is 6.4 (4.2-12.0) and T3 is 84 (71-180). Is this hypo or hyper??

I have been off prednisone for over a year now. Would that still be a issue?

Not at the moment. It was my kidney doctor who ordered them. So I will ask her about what you suggested. I am sure that I will be seeing the endocrinologist again shortly. Thank you !

I'd like to add that although your T3 and T4 are "in range", they are much too low in the ranges.  For a number of reasons, thyroid test ranges are very flawed.  So, based on where many of us found symptom relief, T4 had to be about 50% of range (yours is 28%), and T3 had to be above 50% (yours is 12%).  Your TSH is high, which helps to confirm hypothyroidism.

Your doctor has ordered total T3 and total T4 tests.  These are considered obsolete; he should be ordering FREE T3 and FREE T4.

Is your doctor suggesting meds?

One of the major adverse effects of prednisone is insulin resistance.  Once you are insulin resistant the body is in fat storage mode. Avoid foods high in sugar and with a high glycemic index/load. Your thyroid labs show subclinical hypothyroidism so this won't be helping matters.
