Hypo, with some concerns

I am a 23 year old female, was diagnosed with Hashimoto's a year ago, and given minimal dosage levothyroxine. I was no longer tired, but my TSH immediately went down, and I became hyper. The doctor said it was very unusual and asked me to take half-a-pill a day, which brought TSH up again. Now I take 1, then half, alternating.

I have been exercising and (seriously) eating 1500 calories a day for 3 years now including 1 year on levo, and never lose more than a pound a month. I had gone up from 190-220 over the summer 3 years ago, when I started birth control, and am still on it with weight steady at 205.

With such a minimal dose of levothyroxine leveling out my TSH, is it possible I have another problem too. I am concerned about something I read today: due to the central/belly obesity, along with my pale skin that always easily bruises, high blood pressure, acne, memory problems, lots of thirst/urination, and a year ago having had abdominal stretch marks while at a steady weight... made me wonder if I might have Cushing's?

So any thoughts on my dosage? Thoughts on weight loss? Thoughts on birth control? And thoughts on Cushing's?

Thank you!

Jayden

I can touch base on a few of your concerns;

First Hashimoto - This is an autoimmune disease - and with these types of conditions other autoimmune diseases can develop. Hashimoto is a disease that anitbodies attack the thyroid - It does not have a steady attack sometimes it attacks more and then less - this can be why your TSH swings high to low. It is good practice to follow blood work every two to three weeks and have your doctor monitor you levels often with medication.

TSH values differ from person to person. Just because you fall into the normal ranges does not mean that is normal for you.

Your symptoms and conditions are very common aliments in many situations. I would concentrate on the Hashi/hypothyroidism. Looking at more of the imbalances of hormonal disfunction should be your next move.

I think your hypothyroidism is causing you problems with other glands. When hypoT for a long time- adrenal glands can fall short of their functions and cause our thyroid medication to not work the way it should - so symptoms will stick around.
