Yes. If you are one of those people subject to muscle aches / pain when hypo. Note: Some people just dont get muscle pain from hypo. I am one of them that does.
Did you feel hypER before the doc lowered your synthroid? Why was it lowered?
Posting your last lab test with ranges would be recommended for further comments. - But make it a new post.
just wondering - lowered my dose of synthroid - began muscle aches and leg jerks only on one side
can it be from the lower dose
Your TSH (<0.004) is VERY, VERY low. We want our TSH suppressed to avoid a cancer recurrence. The goal is usually 0.1, and your is way below this, so you are safe. Are you having heart palptations on that dose? It would be great if you could see an endo specializing in thyroid cancer.
also, I had a thought.. I might be wrong but this is just something I thought of. If Im correct... my TSH is kinda high ..so my thyroid..well my medication is producing too much .. can this affect cancer recurrence?
I did think about asking to see if I can lower my dosage because I did feel like it was so high. I guess it would make sense that I might be hyper..but I feel like I exhibit all the signs of hypo.
the results I just posted were done in America, right before I left the states. The Tgab just said Flag (H) it didn't mention any thing like a range. I just went to the doctor to see if my results were in and all were in but my Tg because it was sent to France..it should be in sometime next week.
Thyroxine 10.7 ug/dl (4.5-12.5) range
TSH <0.004 mIU/L (0.4-5) range
seeing an endocrinologist over here might propose a problem apparently my insurance isn't that great and its hard to see a specialist so while I try to find a solution to this problem I need help interpreting my results
I forgot to mention that your synthroid dose is quite high. Has your doctor considered lowering your dose a bit to see if you feel better on it. I can't imagine that you are hypo on that dose. I have been alternating 150 and 175mcg for the past year, and was just switched to 137, as my endo is allowing my TSH to come up slightly.
Your TSH is well suppressed. Thyroid cancer patients start out with a goal of being suppressed to less than 0.1. I have recently been moved to category B, which means my TSH can be between 0.1 - 0.5. Your thyroglobulin is considered undetectable, which is what you want, as this is a cancer marker. I was at my doctor last week and she had my results of blood work. She mentioned that it was unnecessary to be checking T3, as cancer patients are looked at differently than patients with other thyroid disorders.
You mentined your over seas. I dont know were you took the thyoglobulin ab test (270).
This test usually has a limit not a range. It over most limits I'v seen. There should be some limit info there too.
Your lab doesn't really look like someone feeling hypo. The TSH crowd will say your hypeR.
Has the doctor ever mentioned using a little T3 med and lowering your T4 med? Many feel muscle pain is relived from additional T3 meds even if their T4 med only labs looked ok.
This is where comparing past tests and noting symptoms at the time helps in the detective work.
Im on Synthroid 200
well here are my pathology reports but they r a couple months old, but I guess it'll give you an ideal of my situation.
my thyroglobulin was <0.1 the range was Low
but my thyoglobulin ab was 270 ...quite high
the TSH was 0.06 on a (0.4-4.8) range
Free T3 3.5 (2.4-4.2)
Free T4 1.5 (.06-1.6)
my Calcium PTH 9.9 (8.5-10.5)
Intact PTH 73 (11-67)
Vitamin D 37.9 (30-100)
What meds are you on - still no mention of thyroid hormone. A complete picture helps.
sorry I just looked at the receipt i did get T4, TSH and Thyroglobulin quantitative. But not T3, my original endo didn't order that for some reason. thanks for all you guys responses and help, I will post the results next week
you know now that I think about it, I just remember the dr writing down TSH and thyroglobulin .. I dont remember T3 and T4 being written down. Actually, I'm overseas in the Middle East right now so I'm dealing with doctors that I don't know.. and it's a language barrier. So it's hard and frustrating trying to explain what's wrong with me and why I need certain things.
Yeah after my TT they thought that my PTH was intact, but I kept feeling cramping in my legs and tingling sensations throughout my body so they ordered a vitamin d, calcium and PTH and they were quite low. my endo put me on calcium and vitamin d supplements
Clarification note - Many people are hypo on just T4 med (synthroid), from either not getting enough of it or needing addition T3.
Thats how people with hypo symptoms while on meds (with or without a thyroid) end up on this site. Their labs on meds look 'fine' to doctors only looking at TSH (wrong way to diagnose), but they are still feeling hypo and wonder why.
From your post I didn't get that you are not on any meds. So assuming you are on synthroid to keep your TSH suppressed, you should be prone to hyper, not hypo. When you had your TT, did they disturb your parathyroids? If so, that can cause problems with your calcium levels. You should ask your doctor for a calcium blood test.
Trish
So, you had total Thyroidectomy and RAI one year ago. Somehow your thyroid blood tests are still 'normal', and you are not on any thyroid meds. Hmm....One year is a long time.
"I don't get my lab tests back until next week which is driving me crazy" - Did your thyroid test include the free T3 and Free T4? Post results with ranges when you have them.
Minor muscles pain as well as severe muscle pain for some is a hypo symptom. Everyone's degrees of, and type of symptoms can vary from the huge hypo symptom list. Free T3 levels are a big player in muscle pain as far as the thyroid goes. (been there). Chronically tight neck and back muscles can radiate and spread inflammation and tightness outward to other parts as well.
Yes, it could be other things. But you have to start by the process of elimination, one by one.
Might just be your calcium levels are low, this causes cramping and sore muscles, Tingling..fibromalaygia im not to sure on but someone will be able to help you with that..Stress can give a lot of unpleasant symptoms, so as hard as it is try to relax im sure you will be fine, your Scan was clear this is a great thing..
