Thank you for your reply. I am sorry that has happened to you.
I am ????. You were originally dxd with Graves? You had surgery, then RAI and found to be Hashimoto's? Did your doctor put you on the iodine or did YOU have to insist?
(Do the "specialists" really know what they are doing? Are any of them listening?)
Did you find the information about the iodine? Did you have to insist your dr give you T3? My daughter was on Synthroid ONLY for four years after her lobe was removed - no cancer, of course. She was in misery. Her "numbers" were all over the place. Her medical health was mismanaged. Her PCP took her off of Synthroid and placed her on levo -- up and down the dosages went. Major FAIL. Her overall health took a nose dive.
She moved back home and we found a doc (2009) who FINALLY put her on T3 -in addition to the Synthroid. She is so much better. He also found some really high counts in her blood tests for wheat allergy, gluten allergy, corn, casein, ( No other "doctor" even thought to test for. Her iron was low, she was anemic for years.) No vitamin D3 testing until this new one and it was at 27. He suggested many supplements (but was NOT selling them). Her health has GREATLY improved. I will be seeing him soon.
How are these people--medicos- NOT getting nodules/goiters? How much iodine are they taking? ;)
That is unacceptable what has happened to you. I don't want to sound bitter, but how much more fouled up care can we take? If it isn't working, it isn't working.
Who owns these medical universities, anyway? Who writes this misinformation?
Who is benefiting from the bad drugs we are given?
Better health to you. ♥
ETA: Keep track of ionizing radiation, too: CT scans, xrays. How much of THAT is being overused to cause major cancer down the road? It's frightening. I didn't know they are dangerous when used too much. Are we all doomed?
I don;t think Dr. Lupo will post on the community but as a patient advocate I can give you my thought.
Sadly, You won't find many doctors willing to look at iodine supplementation. It doesn't seem prominent as to why either on thyroid except for Hashimoto patients. That too I find odd as I am Hashitoxicosis - underwent RAI for misGraves only dx and after RAI - Iodine certainly improved my condtion along with needing T3 medication to keep things healthy.
Also I have nodules and adding in iodine shrunk the tumor and relieved me of saliva gland pain that I developed after the RAI burned many of those so they are no longer able to release the saliva due to scar tissue plugging the ducks.
