Hypothyroidism / Swelling inside of ankle

I am 29 history of hypothyroidism and PVC's ( have seen 2 cardiologist and lots of testing including ekgs, monitors and echos) and the last month have been having what I think is swelling on the inside park of my ankle. I press it and my finger gets indented, but only in that portion its puffy. No pain or redness... its not my foot or outside ankle, I think my leg may be swollen too but not sure. I went to the ER and they did ultrasounds, blood work, EKG and chest xray. Everything is ok except a fatty liver :( I started working out and eating better and this has not improved. I do have hypothyroidism for about 10 years and stopped taking my medicine , its been more than 6 months ( insurance problems, and lost my job). I went to see my pcp about 2 weeks ago and she said its my thyroid and started me back on my meds about a a week and a half ago... i havent seen any improvement on the swelling or puffiness. I have an appt this week with my pcp again.. Not sure what this could be. I have lots of anxiety and panic attacks so alot of my symptoms could have to do with that but not sure. and I really get freaked out when Im not feeling good and this swollen ankle is really scarying me.

Thanks so much for your reply. Well its going to be 5 weeks on the thyroid med this friday. I ended up back at my pcps office about 2 weeks ago and she gave me diuretics and they worked but then I started getting PVCs and I thibk it was the fact that they lowered my potassium levels... not sure? So I stopped and now the swelling is back :( my pcp said 6 weeks before she can do a re check of my thyrpid but now im having more anxiety becuz this swellin wont leave and people say it could be serious... now im more scared ! I dont know what to do

One and half weeks isn't very long to see much of an improvement.

Excerpt from Outsmart Disease: A Little-Known Factor That Contributes To Weight Gain...

"Two types of water retention in hypothyroidism:

"1. Myxedema is when the fluids and waste products build up over time and don’t clear out of the body due to hypothyroidism. They accumulate in the tissues and don’t respond to diuretics. Only adequate treatment of low thyroid function can resolve this issue.

2. Low thyroid can reduce kidney function when blood filtration and fluid balance become impaired. An example of this effect is puffiness of the face, especially around the eyes, in the hands and ankles. This type of edema is reversible after low thyroid is treated and can also respond to diuretics."

As for a fatty liver, it takes between 6 months and 2 years to fully reverse the condition.  Dr Sandra Cabot's article "Fatty Liver - What Is Fatty Liver And How To Reverse It?" goes into more detail on the 6 ways to reverse the condition: eat less carbohydrates; drink less alcohol; eat more vegetables, protein and the right fats; take a good liver tonic containing milk thistle to support your liver function; take N Acetyl L Cysteine (NAC) to support production of glutathione in the liver.
