with the hashi's how can one lose weight, with out killing thmself what are levels od t3 t4 and tsh to lose weight
Hot flashes are also a symptom of synthroid. I had those non stop. Felt like my whole body was out of control. It is a lot to deal with. I am now on armour and seeing a few of those symptoms disappear. I would just try and relax. Grab yourself a multivitamin. Exercise. I just got enough energy to do my wii fit. It works. But that is all I can do right now. I too have only been treated for for four months. It takes time. But stay as positive as you can. I have hashi's too. Any questions you can contact me anytime.
Ok, I need to comment on a few comments:
Be careful with fiber. If you add fiber to your diet (Quinoa), it can change your med requirements.
Yes, it is ok to not take a pill one day a week. Our bodies are SO individual and temperamental. Sometimes there isn't a pill in the dosage we need (for example, 105). So it is common to either take a half pill once or twice a week, or some people even alternate different dosages (75 one day, 88 the next).
Hypothyroidism affects every metabolic process in your body, so your glucose numbers and cholesterol numbers may drop once you achieve optimal TSH. When diagnosed, my TSH was 130 and my cholesterol was 270. After 1 month on Synthroid, my TSH was 4.5 and my cholesterol was back down to 170.
Exercise is one of the best things you can do for yourself if you can muster up the energy. However, be aware that exercise will increase your metabolism, ergo after a while you may need another dosage adjustment.
You don't mention your age, but as Dit5857 said, menopause can change your med requirements as well. So just as important as the relationship with your doctor, you need to make very good friends with your phlebotomist!
Good luck, and hang in there.
Hi
Waiting for lab test to come back on TSH. I am very happy that my Glucose test came back with a 10 point lower then before. 96 instead of 106. This seems to be a normal range for test.
I have started to walk everyday. Only 1 mile but it is a start when I don't have much energy after working all day.
I also bought some Quinoa. Which is pronouced Keen-wa. I put it on my oatmeal, salad etc. It is suppose to be the mother grain of all. I think it is helping me.
It dates back over 5,000 years. You can buy it at any health food store.
5thave the purpose is to lower dosage by skipping one day a week. It is just very little so, I will have to see what my new dr. says when tests come back.

I don't think you should be skipping taking your Levothroid one day a week. What is the purpose of that? From what I have read it is really important to be consistent with your meds Every day. I would double check this. Does anyone have any comments about this?
I have Hashi's take Armour sub lingual under tongue. Seems to help.
Since I now have Hasimoto's my symptoms have changed. I am still very tired but now get hot flashes. I still have hypo but now that I have Hasimoto's I have more to deal with.
I really don't think my med's are right so will have to wait tell my next blood test.
What seems strange is how I am to skip one day a week of taking my Levothroid. The Pharmacist said it would be very little change by doing that., but that is what my Dr. said to do.
I am so hoping the new DR. will be able to help me with this.
Pam
It's a good option, when you change the dose of any thyroid medication you always must see your thyroid values in 3/4 weeks. Good luck
I just fired my Dr. She said :
We generally just use the TSH (the brain hormone that tells the thyroid to work) to follow people's thyroid levels as it's more sensitive than the T3 or T4. If the TSH is abnormal, then the lab always does a T4. Your T3 has always been normal, so there's no need to keep repeating that. The thyroid antibody level is not helpful to follow as it's level has no bearing on how your thyroid is doing
I now changed to an Internist. See him in November. I wanted a Endo Dr. but with Kaiser it is 100 miles away. Everyone I talked with said that they like having an Internist.
I thought that I could have the tests I wanted but it does not seem that way.
Pam
So try to get new analyses (thyroid and full blood tests) to see what is happening, if you're having the right dose. Don't forget the glucose test.
I don't get retested until October. The Dr said I was prediabetes. But all she did was tell me to skip one day a week on taking my Levothroid. The Dr also has a colesteral test ordered too when I get my next blood work.
I just don't feel well. I have sent her a e-mail about wanting more tests as all she ordered was a TSH, not all the tests I had requested last time. I feel I should get all the different tests I want.
Since the Endo Dr. is so far away, I am going to ask if it can be contracted out local so I can see a Endro. Dr.
Pam
I think you must retest your glucose, 106 is a prediabetes value. After you started medication have you tested your thyroid values?
Hi
Thank you for your reply. It really helps to get support and answers when you are going thought something like this.
Pam
Sorry you aren't feeling well. I've be Hypo/Hasi for 14 years now. My temp is normal at 96/97 so don't worry too much about that. It takes a few months to get regulated, least with me anyway. I have a problem with Flax seed, you may want to research that more.
What is good for some thyroid people aren't always good for you. I myself can not have too much soy; It make me very tired and achy. I'm 51 now and premenopausal so really struggling with weight gain. I have a complex cyst in my ovary so mayby some symptoms are confused. I don't know anymore..lol I take calcium 2x a day, multvitamin and B complex and fish oil..I drink water mostly and try to get extra protein, I noticed that helps.
My antibodies were high also, but have lowered a bit. Don't think they go down too much though, It's a sign your body is attacking your thyroid.. Sorry I could go on and on with all the stuff that happens with thyroid. I hate it , but I own it..
By the way 10.07 my TSH was 0.666 T-4= 7.4 I take Levothyroxine .112 mcg 4x and .125 2x. going to Dr tomorrow so prob will be changing again. Plus I take my pill on an empy stomach with just water and I wait about an hour before I eat. Also I don't take any iron or calcium until about 4 hours later. Maybe you should try an endocrinologist. Take care.

When I ask my Dr about my temp. being 96.6 she said that everyone was running low today. I can't go to a Endro Dr because with Kaiser it is about 100 miles away. I wonder if I should see an Internist? My Dr is a GP.
Thank you so much for your help
You need to check again your TSH, free T4 and free T3. About Anemia you should see if you nead vit B12, because Hashi can give some vitamins deficiency. For people to help overhere could you give your thyroid numbers? (TSH...)
