Hypothyroidism and memory

My husband was diagnosed over 5 years ago with hodgkin's lymphoma.  He has been in remission for a while now and the dr released him from his regular check ups.  Because of his radiation from cancer he was then diagnosed with hypothyroidism about a year ago.  He has been taking medication for it.  For thr past few months he has not been himself.  He has loss of concentration,  lack of motivation,  can't focus and can't remember anything.  I can say something to him and 5 minutes later he will forget what I said.  His Dr said it was because his thyroid levels were not right and gave him a higher dose.  However when they did his blood work they said his levels were normal.  Since my husband has been on this higher does he has not gotten better.  In fact he's gotten worse. He was almost involved in a car wreck the other day because he cannot focus.  We are waiting for monday to hear from his dr.  Any suggestions as to what this could be and what we could do to help him?

Hard for us to assess what is going on without some actual lab results and reference ranges.  I could speculate that even though his results are within the range, his free T3 may be in the low end of the range, they are in the lower part of the range, which frequently results in hypo symptoms.  This often occurs when taking large doses of T4 meds.  Can you find some way to get the test results and post here?

I don't have the lab results. All I know is that the dr called and said that his levels were within normal range but still wanted him to take this higher dose.   The medication starts with an L.  I can't remember what it's called.   And he's taking 150mg

Just because your husband's thyroid test results are within the so-called "normal" ranges does not mean they are adequate for him.  The ranges are so broad that just being in the lower half of the range frequently results in hypo symptoms.  Many members say that symptom relief required Free T3 in the upper part of its range and Free T4 around the middle of its range.

If you will please post his thyroid related test results, and reference ranges shown on the lab report, we will be better able to comment further.  Also, what thyroid medication and dosage is he taking daily?
