Hypothyroidism

I've been taking synthroid for the last six months since being diagnosed with hypothyroidism.  I take synthroid in the morning and some vitamin supplements before I go to sleep.  I started the vitamin supplements a month ago and have noticed some of my thyroid symptoms coming back (i.e., major sleep problems, loss of hair.....)   Could the synthroid and supplements interact with each other somehow even though I take them 8-10 hours apart from each other?

My endo tells me to take all supplements at least 4 hours before or after my Synthroid.

Have you tried stopping the supplements to see if the symptoms are alleviated?

You could try for a week and see if it makes a difference. If you continue to get them, then I would let your doctor know & hopefully get your labs done again.

At the beginning of December I was.  After much playing around with the dosages it was finally found to be regulated with the December test.  But then when I started taking these supplements (they are multi packs with 8 vitamins per pack plus additional CLA tablets), I started having a couple of symptoms.  I dont know if it is a coincidence or related or unrelated.

I have to agree that it would be unusual for supplements taken that far away from thyroid meds to interact.  Could you list the supplements in case something rings a bell?

Do you have recent labs to post?  If so, please do along with reference ranges that have to come from your own lab report.  Also, if you have prior labs from when you were feeling WELL, please post them for comparison.

I don't think it is your supplements interacting with the medication, it could be that you need some sort of medication adjustment. I take B12  daily, but like you take them about 8-10 hours apart, the doctors never seem to say anything about it.

However, I could be wrong here. Have you been in for testing lately for your thyroid?
