Not necessarily.  Size is only one piece of the nodule puzzle, the whole nodule game has no "for sures" except the finding of cancer cells, and that is only 5-15% chance.  The odds are with you, I had four nodules three turned out totally benign, but one had cancer.  The FNA was not done on the one with cancer, but on the biggest one, they found "benign follicular clusters" which could not give them a definitive answer.  See how confusing it gets?  The only way they can tell for sure is to take out part of your thyroid, but that is usually the last step in the thyroid game...keep playing, eventually you will find something, they do not go away, but the odds are they are benign.  Even if it is cancer, it more than likely is only in the thyroid and is easily curable, most people have no further trouble.

The increase in size does not necessairly mean it is cancerous.  Most nodules are benign.  It is good that they have been keeping an eye on it.  Good luck with your FNA.
