Anyone have experience with hoodia & hypothyroid?

Know hoodia would not be good for hyperthyroid, but is it contraindicated for hypothyroid?  Anyone with hypothyroid had experience with hoodia, or any other weight loss aid?  What did you use?  How much did you lose?  How long did it take you?  Am considering hoodia and green tea plus supplements to sort of kick start the process for a special event that's coming up soon.  Have a lot to lose.

Thanks for the referral to MedHelp's Complementary Medicine.  I normally have five places to which I click, and hadn't even noticed that the CM Forum exists!  Thank you so much!

Thank you for the information, I will look into Low Blood Sugar and You diet.  I heard about the coconut oil, I am using it sometimes for fried eggs, or on bread, instead of butter. I will definitely look into this one, as I need to speed my weight lost.
Good luck to you with the weight, but do not put too much hope into Hoodia, just eat less.
I wish it was 30 years ago, back then just by eating less bread, I could loose 5 pounds per week.

I know that if your thyroid is overactive to start with, any dietary kick could rev up so much that it could even be fatal.  Do you know where you heard or read that we low thyroid types are out of luck, too?  I'm sure there's info on the research out there, I just haven't been able to locate it.

anca77 ----------I've actually done fairly well with low carb diets that permit the complex carbs.  I lost quite a lot on a diet in Low Blood Sugar and You, by Carleton Fredericks, but that was over 30 years ago.  About 10 yrs ago I lost for my son's wedding, using Atkins, but only because I couldn't find my Fredericks book, which permits more foods, and left me more satisfied.  Have been meaning to lose for a special event coming up, but you know that famous round tuit---didn't get it.  Several mo ago started taking coconut oil for a skin problem, and my cellulite bubbles started smoothing out, and I lost over 20 pounds.  No exercise!  Which I hate.  No diet.  But I did drink 8-10 ounces of water, roughly an hour before eating.  Tried to find a book title about coconut oil for someone on another thread, by googling, and found a site that truly astonished me, regarding the impact of coconut oil on thyroid balance, as well as weight loss, and a bunch of other conditions.  Here's the site:   http://www.coconutdiet.com/forum.cfm
Actually, it makes sense, because aches and pains of many yrs left during the time I was taking the c.o.  Ran out about the last of Jan, but didn't replenish because my skin prob was greatly diminished; perfect part of the time.  Gradually the hurts and aches are hitting again, and the skin problem has been nagging me to go buy more c.o.; just hadn't gotten a round tuit!  So reading today about thyroid (since the hurts are coming back) makes a lot of sense.  Don't know anything about the coconut diet yet.  Will check it out and may change to it.  Was just hoping that someone would say they'd flattened their tum with the hoodia so I won't look like the Pillsbury Doughboy at my class reunion.  Know a woman who used The Makers Diet (also book title) by Jordan Rubin, and lost around 200 lbs---got into a size 4 easily and has kept it off for about 6 yrs.  She has low thyroid.  The neat thing about the Low Blood Sugar and You diet was that the fat globs just sort of melted off, with no flab, no stretch marks!!!!, and yet I didn't have to go to a lower bra cup size; went from 38 to 32, but kept the cup size, so I'd worried about being left with door knobs for nothing!  The other neat thing was that the women who were too thin all over or flat chested but went on the diet for sugar stabilization, actually put a little weight on, in the exact spots where they needed it.  I had low thyroid then, too, but don't know about the others.  We were all working on our low sugar levels.  Hope someone can point me to a magic wand!

I tried Hoodia a few months back but with no results. In fact, from my experience, as long as your levels are not normal you’ll not be able to loose weight no matter what you try. And, even when your levels finally are normal, your body will need some time before reacting.
I personally start having my TSH under 1 last year in November but the weight start coming off, very slowly, 4 weeks ago.
It could be just me, but nothing worked before I got by TSH within normal limits, for me (0.45 – 0.75).

Sorry for this news but I hope you’ll find a way to loose the weight fast and SAFE, and if you do please post your findings to help others.
