Comparison: 1/18/2013 thyroid ultrasound.
Findings: Utilizing a linear 12 MHz transducer and real-time
technique, multiple images were obtained of the thyroid gland. They
demonstrate the right lobe to measure 4.6 x 1.4 x 1.2 cm and the left
lobe to measure 5.0 x 1.7 x 1.5 cm with a maximal thyroid isthmus
thickness of 0.3 cm. Within the midpole of the right thyroid lobe is
a small benign circumscribed isoechoic 5 mm nodule which is stable.
No other new nodules are present within the right lobe. The thyroid
isthmus is unremarkable. Again demonstrated at the lower pole is a
dominant nodule which has been previously biopsied and currently
measures 2.2 x 1.8 x 1.5 cm and previously measured 1.9 x 1.6 x 1.2
cm. The patient has developed a spongiform rounded nodule which
measures 1.1 x 0.9 x 0.9 cm on today's study and previously a small
hypoechoic nodule measuring 4 x 4 by 3 mm was in this location. It
demonstrates minimal peripheral color Doppler flow. No definite calcifications are present. There is no evidence for abnormal
perithyroidal adenopathy.
IMPRESSION:
1. Findings are most consistent with a multinodular goiter with
slight interval increase in size of the patient's thyroid nodules
when compared to the previous study of 1/18/2013.
