Iodine induced thyroid disorder

I did multiple iodine skin patch test.  Became ill, depression, tearful, anxiety, panic, nausea, lost appetite, lost weight. Ultrasound done on thyroid, two nodules found.  Endo prescribed synthroid.  I went even more hyper, this showed in test. Stopped synthroid, started desiccated thyroid. Health did a 180, but still not feeling well. My dr at first didn't believe my illness had anything to do with thyroid, she sent me to mental health, who ordered more thyroid testing. Does anyone have any experience with iodine induced thyroid disorders. I've been unwell for months and just want to get better.  Thank you

Iodine patch on the skin has very little effects on iodine status.

Please post your thyroid related lab results from before you started on Synthroid and when you started on desiccated.  Be sure to include reference ranges for all results, as ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own reports.

You said "Endo prescribed synthroid.  I went even more hyper, this showed in test."  I'm somewhat confused, since Synthroid is prescribed for hypothyroidism, not hyper?  Desiccated hormones are also prescribed for hypothyroidism, but hopefully, once you post your labs with reference ranges, it will all clear up.

Too much iodine can cause either hypo or hyperthyroidism. Again, once we see your labs, we'll have a better idea of what's going on...

Depression, anxiety, panic attacks and other "mental" issues are common symptoms of thyroid disorders.

Nodules are common with, both, hyper and hypothyroidism.  They are usually nothing to worry about unless they have unusual characteristics, etc.
