Is anyone on Naturethroid?

I had a Total Thyroidectomy 9/09 for papillary thyroid cancer follicular variant.  After RAI treatment endo wanted to put me on synthroid.  I insisted on a dessicated natural hormone and have been taking naturethroid.  8 weeks ago my tsh was 3.5 taking 1.5 gr.  i was increased to 1.75 gr. and just got labs back today.  TSH now 13.7!  Dont know how this is possible.  My target TSH for supression i s<.05.  Has anyone had trouble regulating with naturethroid.  I have never felt well since my TT and am wondering if i should try synthroid with cytomel or stick it out with naturethroid.  Anyone have any experience with this?

My endo will prescribe only synthroid for thyroid cancer patients.  His goal for suppression is <0.1 but has recently allowed me to shoot for between 0.1 and 0.5.

Its hard saying what you should do but one thing for sure is you need to monitor the free T3 and Free T4 tests to get the most out of your meds. That goes for taking NT and Synthroid/cytomel mixes.

If your doctor would dose using the free T3 and Free T4 instead of looking at the TSH your dosage would be more accurate. The norm on optimal thyroid - cancer or not - is the FT3 is high on the reference the FT4 is mid/high. When the FT3 is at a proper level the TSH is always suppressed to have clear nonexsistant number unless there is a pitutiary issue involved.
