The calcifications are a problem, without them your chances of cancer are small, 5-15%...but with calcifications up to 20% (1 in 5).  Was the nodule irregular, smooth, vascular?  Vascularity also is an indication of cancer, cancer needs a blood supply.  Irregular borders are also more likely cancerous.  Get the FNA, usually either a radiologist, ENT or Endo does this, but they must be trained in ultrasound, they use an ultrasound to guide the needle in the right place.  Are you having any symptoms?

I just had an ultrasound. I have a singe nodule on left. 22mm. It has some calcification. I am worried. Right side doesn't have anything. I guess my next step is a fine needle biopsy. What kind of doctor does this?

My levels were all fine, I still had cancer.  The only thing out of whack was my TPOab, I had hashimotos.  All the others were within normal range.

Yes.

Many people without thyroid problems have thyroid nodules. Some nodules are cancerous.

Thyroid blood work is not a cancer screen at all, it checks only hormone levels.
