wow that was HUGE! i cant even think about how u could swallow let alone breathe. so it sounds like i can have both graves and hashi. seems weird i could be high and low at the same time but if im am reading it correct its 2 different things that the thyroid is doing or not doing. or do i have more brain fog than i thought. lol i have felt somewhat hyper lately but the tiredness and everything else i didnt see how it could be high. i have colitis so i always figured my bowel problems were from that. it seems to followed a patern the last 2 years during the cold months i am very constipated to the point that i feel that 9 months preg and the feet are shoved up under your ribs to where you have to sit arched backwards all the time to feel somewhat better. also a pain on the right side all the time i have had overies checked and other than poly sist they were ok. oh and i have very little vit d in my body too. it was 3 the last time so i take the mega dose to get it back up but as soon as i stop taking it it drops quickly and living in NY doesnt help. not much sun. i also take ambien it helps but not enough. i have tried a few others but i dont want to be groggy in the am. benadryl does nothing for me never has. like you i can get to sleep but can not stay asleep so no rem sleep. if this hyrep feeling is because my levels put me in the hyper range should i be skinny? lol because i'm not loosing anything atleast i should get to loose a few right? i appreciate your fed back i dont understand to much about how this thyriod and how it works and you guys know first hand not like the docs who just dont understand what i mean. do u ever have a floating feeling? i have had that latley too. i feel like im going crazy here and dont know what is wrong with me.
Graves is the hyperthyoid disease when you have raised TSI.
Hashimoto's is when you have antibodies and are hypothryoid. There are many variations on thyroid disease.
Your nodules are tiny and most doctors won't check them by sticking a needle in to get cell samples. When they say unremarkable it means nothing leapt out at them. It doesn't mean there is nothing wrong. It is tech talk.
Get some fresh blood tests, it could be Hashi's or Graves. Generally most thyroids are about 4 to 5 cms. Your levo may not be enough to stop your symptoms, or you might have higher antibodies causing you your symptoms.
i probably should add that there is a tiny hypoechoic nodule 0.4 x 0.3x 0.3 cm on the right and another on the left 0.3 x 0.3 x 0.4cm per more caudally, and a complex nodule 0.6 x 0.5 x 0.3cm and it sats that the thyroid gland is overall generally unremarkable. doesnt this sound like there is nothing wrong with it? yrs ago my endro said heshimotos, what is graves?
You definitely have a goitre, enlarged thyroid. That why you feel the strangulation feeling.
You would be wise to get them to do a TSI test for Graves disease and of course the standard Free T4 and Free T3. Sounds like you need some help!
One more thing, yeah I still have a bit of brain fog myself..I'm taking Lunesta (very expensive) and took Ambien in the hospital..because I too have the sleep issue. Wake up great..2-4hrs start to drop and feel hypo, but couldn't for the life of me take a nap..and at bed time I'd have severe insomnia and would have to take tylenol pms, melatonin, benadryl to even get groggy enough to try and fall asleep..but never could stay asleep. I don't suggest this as benadryl (same thing in tylenol pms that help you sleep) do ~not~ let you get to a deep REM sleep. Thyroid issues run in my family, and the sleep thing we all have. My sister is currently trying to get either Lunesta or Ambien, but she has Medicaid and I'm not sure if medicaid covers those. Insomnia can be caused by other things, like the adrenals and pituitary..so I'd suggest asking for those test also.
Here is one of my ~crazy~ symptoms (just to give you an example on what I meant by ~everything~): I would have constipation when first waking up, then diarrhea in the afternoons...everyday.
*BIG HUGS* I hope you start to feel better!
