I agree completely with Moose's comments.
Because Armour does have a relatively high T3 content, it will make you feel better sooner than T4-only meds will. T3 doesn't have to build blood levels like T4 does. I'm sure that's where your energy is coming from. It's not unusual when first starting meds to have good days and bad days. The good ones get more frequent, and the bad start to disappear.
In the meantime, if any of your symptoms bothers you a lot or worsens, call your doctor and ask him what you should do.
If you just started taking Armour, its best to 'ramp up' the dose. Start lower than what your script is for the first week or two, then work your way up to 30mg's by splitting the tablet. Your body needs time to get used to the direct T3 in a dessicated such as Armour.
Most people on dessicated split their dose 2X per day to spread the energy of T3 out over the day. So its best to get a pill splitter.
I was given the zoloft for horrible anxiety about 8 years ago and the Tramadol is for 2 herniated disks in my back that I've had for 8 years now. I have been taking it for about 4 years now and I was up to 200mg a day. I finally realized that I was using it more to help cover up my hypo symptoms because I loved that it gave me a little boost of energy. It never gave me any side effects that I'm aware of because everything I've been dealing with for the past 10 years I have recently been told is all very common symptoms of the hypo. Anyway, I have been slowly weening myself off of the Tramadol because I'm just tired of depending on it to feel better. I am also hoping that my anxiety will get atleast a little better so I can stop the Zoloft too.
Zoloft for depression and Tramadol for pain? How long have you taken the Tramadol? I ask because I had side effects with Tramadol - tingling fingers, rapid heartbeat and my head felt weird. I have a large herniated disk revealed through an MRI. I was given Trmadol took it one evening and that was it. Now I take Norco because it has less acetaminophen. I'm hoping the hernia will reabsorb. But seriously, in my case the Tramadol & I didn't get along.
I hope with the right thyroid med you can give up the Zoloft - after all, your depression was probably caused by the thyroid condition. I had doctors prescribe anti-depressants for years and I just got fed up with them. I said to them I want to know WHAT is wrong with me! It was hashimotos - about 18 years worth before proper diagnosis!
Oh and I take Zoloft and Tramadol both 50mg a day.
It was almost like an intense tension headache but felt hot for some reason. My face has been feeling pretty warm since beginning the armour too. I took a motrin and now its gone... I am just wondering if anyone else experienced this cause I can't really find anything about Armour other than the thousands of posts about it not working anymore. Lol. I just this past month had a ekg, echo, and 24 hour halter and all were normal. Turns out it was the hypo causing me to have chest pains and rapid heartbeat. I don't know if its possible to have any relief from the hypo symptoms after only 2 doses but I actually had energy today... maybe I just did a little too much after being pretty much on the couch for the last few months. Just hope my body isn't reacting negatively to the meds cause I really don't want to be on a synthetic hormone. Thanks for your time guys!!!!
The burning pain in the back of you neck worries me a bit.
How long does it last, and is it relieved by changing position? Do you have any history of cardiac problems?
It can take a while to get used to meds, and, as Shelley pointed out, what works for one of us often doesn't for the other.
I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis which was finally diagnosed in May 2010. My first month of hormone therapy I took 75mcg of Levoxyl. Within about 10 days I developed side effects that were very uncomfortable. I still stayed on until the month was up then switched to Armour. By day 3 on the Armour the unpleasant side effects I had from the Levoxyl were gone.
I've learned that what works well for one patient may not work well for another.
Do you take any other medications that may have caused some reaction when combined with the Armour?
I wouldn't be "worried" because there are many other thyroid meds and other choices you & your physician can make for therapy - what does your doctor say?Have you googled Armour to research possible side effects?
