I have always had normal blood work but my primary care doc found a mass on my thyroid 5.2cm on the right and 5.0cm on the left. I never had a FNA or anything with was just TAKE IT OUT....LOL...if there was any chance of it being something I wanted it out and over with. I was VERY suprised to find I had a thyroid problem.
Good Luck
Dana
My TSH was stable before my diagnosis, so it came as a surprise.
if TSH is stable, then the issues may not be thyroid related; if large nodule is cystic AND benign, the PEI procedure can be tried before the surgery.
AR:
I was advised you are good with this stuff. Here is the information I have.
Blood test results were T-4 normal range and THS normal range
Ultra sound indicated 2/3 very very small nodules and 1 larger nodule at 3.8cm
Four hour RAI uptake level is 2.1%
24 hour RAI uptake level is 13.8%
Needle asperation being done Wednesday, September 10, 2008.
I will be getting another opinion on September 29, 2008 at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore MD.
The doctor I am seeing now is suggesting that regardless of the results of the needle asperation I should have my Thyroid removed due to the size of the 3.8 cm nodule.
The doctor took blood today, Sept. 9, 2008 to check my Vitamin D and B-12 level and at MY request I asked him to run the T-4 and TSH blood work again
The doctor also went on to advise that the fact that I am always very tired, no energy, can't seem to get going, feel sluggish all the time, feel like a blob of fat all the time, can't sleep, moody, dizzy, difficulty focusing has nothing to do with my Thyroid.
Thanks,
Ray
I am really weak in these type of posts.
I think AR - 10 , 898 , and Utah is great on this stuff.
My gut feeling though is move forward on the FNA regardless. It may bring up some things.
Do you have the actual report finding off the ultra sounds scan? Giving that info on here really helps alot in getting a clear picture of what that nodule could be.
