Can this be thyroid related.

I was diagnosed about a year and half ago with a hypo thyroid! Been on synthroid no problems. Now I am having crazy symptoms and although my levels look normal I think it may be causing my symptoms. I have episodes of numbness, tingling, in my legs, arms lips, tongue. Dizziness, nausea, confusion when trying to put words to my thoughts. And now I have begun getting shooting pain like electric shocks in my lega feet arms and hands. Stroke and migraine are ruled out, So I am falling back on thyroid. However my Dr. says my levels do not look bad. He did lower my dose to .1 from .112 but still no difference. What is a good level for the t3 and t4 numbers just curios. Really looking for answers have been hospitlized for this and can not drive or do much till it is figured out Dr orders in case these are seizures.

Have you had your vitamin D and B12 tested? These can cause neurlogical issues.

Hi,

the neurology forum isn't very helpful, but the MS one is.  You could try posting there.

have they ruled out MS?  Have you seen a neurologist?  Yes, I agree some symptoms can overlap.  I was also suspected with MS based on symptoms, but that is not being considered any more for now.

Regardless, you need to get thyroid levels you are comfortable and feel best at.

Best wishes

Hi  Just wanted you to know that my daughter had these random "electric shock " type pains for a two week period when we raiserd her Armour dose from 90 to120mg.  She described it as bee stings or zaps, like someone poked her with a tack. It would happen out of nowhere and in random places like her back, legs, butt, etc. Really scared me, think the dose was a little high for her, her tsh got down well below 1 and it had been in the mid 3's. It went away on its own, but she now has severe joint aches. I took her off Armour last week and we are now on Naturethroid.

maybe have your doc just treat you until your symptoms improve but most docs just go by the lab numbers.  Also, these sound like intense anxiety which is more common with hyper, but also seen frequesntly with hypo.  Also, if treating with Levo the dose could be high causing it too.  Not an expert just some thoughts for ya.------gg

Oops...... also wanted to mention (see I have the memory probelms too) that I posted a question on the MS forum and between them and what I have found through research myself, hypothyroid CAN mimic MS.  Just wanted to reasure you of that.

Just wanted to let you know that all the symptoms you stated above I have as well including the tingling on the tongue, I even get it on my head!  I had an MRI of my brain to rule out MS as well and it was negative.  Like you I NEVER had any of these problems until I had thyroid issues (Hashi's).  What were your last levels?

I  figured as much. My Dr. says I am within normal range. But I am losing faith in him rapidly. He thinks it is neurological, like MS. But I can't believe that I am pretty healthy untill this all started.
I do want to say thanks for responding all last week I tried to get a response from the neuro. forum and nobody would respond to anything. This forum seems to have a much friendlier group of people.
Will keep you and your sis in my thoughts and prayers!

usually numbness is when you are Hypo but I may be wrong.
I get tingling and numbness when I am borderline hypo.
I cant post the reference ranges for labs as every pathology lab is different as is every country.
It should have the ranges on your lab results.
