L-Tyrosine

Hi everybody, here's my q.

I've been recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (but at a very early stage of the disease) so I barely feel much of the hypo symptoms so far...I'm still not on meds (something Im seriously fighting for, though, because I know that even though I have "normal thyroid function" I can benefit from thyroid medication because it can help delay the disease from progressing into a full blown subclinical hypothyroidism) but I know that I can definitely "help" myself by considering taking some supplements for thyroid support.

Ok so, I read that L-Tyrosine helps to stimulate the thyroid gland for the production of T4 and T3. I also follow a very strict diet, where I watch over what I eat very carefully, something that I don't really mind because I've always liked taking care of myself.

Is it ok to take L-Tyrosine with Hashi's??

I also am currently taking some multivitamins along with 200 mcg of Selenium (I read that it helps in controlling antibodies, and helping in getting them back to normal ranges).

Any advice on this would be wonderful, as  I do want ot make myself feel better, and don't want to mess myself up even more.

Thanks in Advance!

L-Tyrosine is an Amino so it is good for a lot of things....including mood even.
Yes your Free's are quite low normal and glad you are starting meds now to control things before they get bad. Good for you that you found a good endo! :)

My labs are TSH of 0.69 , Free T4 0.7 and Free T3 at 268, and obviously tested positive for both Thyroid Antibodies.

I finally found an Endocrinologist who recognizes that I Can definitely benefit from treatment right away as I am showing symptoms of hypothyroidism, plus my Free T4 is barely within normal range.

Thanks for the reply! I was doubting taking L-Tyrosine because I didn't know if it was good for Hashi's.

You are on the right track with L-Tyrosine and Selenium for nutritional support. What were your most recent lab results?
