LEVOTHYROXINE or SYNTHROID

I took  genetic levothyroxine and my level were good but I still felt really sick
my doctor and I find out that I was allergic to the dyes or filler in LEVOTHYROXINE   Im now on
synthroid I take 50 plus a 1/2 table every day and 2 on sunday.   I feel so much better. my insurance
change and now they want me to try the generic white tablet.  I m really scare.  Do I chance it or just
paid the 50 a month compare to 10 a month.?

If the money is not a huge sacrifice, I would not mess with it if you feel "normal".   I'm looking at the possibility to switch from NT to Synthroid/Cytomel because of resistance.  My doctor said the reason he would insist on name brand, because is about 10%  discrepancy between band name and generic. Because how bad I feel so far, I would pay 100 a month gladly,  just to feel close to normal. (I don't think my insurance will cover much, they send out a letter few months ago that they have a Synthroid generic on their list)   Good luck!

That's a choice that only you can make... Some insurance companies will make exceptions if your doctor tells them that you have previously tried the generic and it doesn't work.  However, in this case they might not make the exception unless you specifically try the white generic tablet, which is also the 50 mcg, unless you've already tried it...
